About Jesse Delauney

Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Jesse is a creative writer who writes short fiction, poetry, non-fiction and, occasionally, music criticism. His writing is informed by his interest in Sydney, the arts, social justice, and working-class politics. His best writing, however, is informed by the gracious feedback of his supportive writing group.

Jesse’s short stories have been included in the University of Sydney 2017 Anthology, The Quotidian, and 2019 anthology The Road Less Travelled, in which he was published as a finalist of the 2019 Better Read Than Dead Writing Competition.  His portfolio also includes poetry contributed to the Hasta La Bella Vista Baby inter-medial art and community project, supported by the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia under its C3West program, in late 2019.

Other writing by Jesse includes a novella submitted as part of a research thesis for his postgraduate studies, several pieces of music criticism, and many short stories which he hopes will see publication in online literary journals near you in the not-too-distant future.

Jesse holds a Master of Creative Writing from the University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Arts (Liberal Arts) degree with a major in Literature, a Diploma in Audio Production, and has completed the CCCA’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competence Course.
